# Promade or Classic Lash Extensions? How to Choose the Right Technique

**Promade lashes** give you ready-made volume fans, while with classic application you form and place every single extension yourself. The two techniques bring a different work rhythm, tool handling and client experience. So the question isn’t which one is better. It’s **what kind of set you want to create, how much time you have, and which technique you’re confident in**.

## What’s the difference between promade and classic technique?

**Zero Time Promade** consists of ready-made fans bonded at the base. Each fan lifts off the strip in a single move, so you don’t have to open and shape your volume fans by hand every time.

With classic or traditional application, you pick up extensions one by one and place them on the natural lashes according to your chosen technique. For volume sets, you make the fans yourself. That gives you more freedom, but it takes more practice and more time.

## Speed: when does promade give you the edge?

One of promade’s biggest advantages is a **faster workflow**. Zero Time Promade fans are bonded at the base, so they don’t fall apart as you pick them up, and there’s no double pickup. According to the product description, this makes your work about **30 percent faster**.

This comes in especially handy if you:

- want to offer your clients shorter appointments;
- do lots of volume sets;
- want more predictable application times;
- haven’t yet developed a steady hand-fanning technique;
- want to work with fans of consistent size and shape.

Classic technique can be slower, especially with hand-made volume fans. In return, an experienced lash artist can create fully custom fans and match the shape more precisely to each natural lash.

## Retention: neither technique guarantees everything on its own

Retention isn’t determined only by whether you applied a promade or a hand-made fan. **Proper isolation, a clean attachment point, the condition of the natural lash, prep, the environment and your client’s at-home aftercare** all matter too.

Zero Time Promade’s narrow, pointy-base design allows precise attachment. With the right adhesive technique you can create a stable bond, but at the base of a promade fan you still need to make sure you don’t get too much adhesive on the natural lash.

With laser-cut promade fans, the textured base gives you a larger bonding surface. This can help distribute the adhesive more evenly and create a longer-lasting bond. Traditional hand-made fans can also have excellent retention, as long as the base is properly closed and the attachment point is clean and stable.

## Your technique also shapes the result

With promade, the pre-made fan sets the basic shape of each fan. Zero Time Promade is available in **2D, 3D, 4D, 5D and 6D**, among others, so you can create sets of different fullness. The fans come in 0.05 and 0.07 mm thickness.

It’s a good choice if you:

- want a uniform, neat volume effect;
- value a predictable fan shape;
- are after a natural, soft look;
- want to work fast without making the set too heavy.

Hand-fanning pays off when you want fully custom fans for your client’s eye shape, the direction of their natural lashes, or the styling they’re after. In the inner corner, for example, a finer, narrower fan can work well, while other areas may call for wider or fuller fans.

## Which adhesive should you use?

Don’t choose your adhesive based on the word “promade.” Instead, consider **how fast it sets, the humidity and temperature of your room, your own working pace, and the type of lash you’re using**.

Fusion S05 is a traditional, air-drying adhesive:

- **0.1–0.5 second drying time**;
- works at 40–60 percent humidity and 18–28 °C;
- suitable for classic, volume and promade technique;
- according to the manufacturer, it can provide 4–8 weeks of retention under the right conditions.

This adhesive suits more experienced lash artists who work fast. Its low viscosity calls for precise dipping and accurate placement, so if you’re just starting out, choose a drying time you can comfortably keep up with.

For UV technology, Warp UV adhesive cures under the UV lamp in **0.3–0.5 seconds** after you place the fan. It gives a clear, pigment-free bond and, according to the manufacturer, can stay stable for as long as 6–8 weeks. When you use UV adhesive, handling the lamp, proper light protection and professional working conditions need special attention.

Whichever adhesive you choose, cleanse and dry the natural lashes thoroughly first. Primer can help remove oily residue and prepares the surface for stronger adhesion.

## Who is promade for?

Promade is especially practical for you if you:

- want to speed up volume application;
- create lots of sets in a similar style;
- want to use consistent fans;
- want fewer fans falling apart than with hand-fanning;
- want to work with shorter appointment times.

For your client, this can mean a shorter lash appointment, while the result stays soft and neat. Choosing the right thickness and fan size still depends on the condition of the natural lashes.

## When should you choose classic application instead?

Go with the traditional technique if you:

- want to create fully custom fans;
- like to control the width of the fan and how closed its base is;
- want to match the set very precisely to different eye shapes;
- can already hand-fan quickly and consistently;
- are creating a styling where pre-made fan shapes are less flexible.

Classic technique can take more time, but it gives you more creative freedom. If you’re a newer lash artist, promade can be an easier way into volume work, while hand-fanning remains an important part of your technical growth.

## Quick decision guide

| If you want | Choose |
| --- | --- |
| Faster volume application | Promade |
| Pre-made, uniform fans | Promade |
| A fully custom fan shape | Classic technique |
| Maximum control over every fan | Classic technique |
| Shorter appointment time | Promade |
| Freer, more creative styling | Hand-fanning |

**Promade** is the practical choice when speed, consistency and a predictable workflow come first for you. **Classic application** is ideal when custom shaping and full technical control matter more. Either way, a long-lasting result takes precise isolation, proper prep and an adhesive that matches your working pace.
